People are starting to ask me what I want to do for my career, and I better start putting some serious thought into it. I have always admired the self-sufficient lifestyle, and I like farming. I`ve heard and read about stories on the economic crisis and I think that I would benefit and enjoy a self-sufficient lifestyle.

I`d be thinking about getting an acreage and having cows, goats, chickens, rabbits, and building some sort of water area for fish. I`d have to have crops for vegetables and fruits. I`d probably get a good gun, too, for hunting game. I could eat the rabbits for meat, and as they multiple quickly I could have a large supply. The cows could provide milk for me, though I do not know how many I should get, I was thinking only one and maybe a bull? Goats would be for cheese and milk, the chickens would be for eggs and meat. The fish would be for meat, as well.

There are problems with my plan, though, such as how would I be able to raise the money in the first place to buy all of what I need to get started? There is quite the number of mouths to feed, with all the animals and I would probably not be getting food right away when I start. The plumbing and electricity would cost a lot of money, I`ve been trying to do some research on solar panels, wind turbines, etc, but I do not know what I should do for this and how much work they would be, as I`d still have to look after the livestock.

I may never be able to become completely self sufficient, but mostly is fine with me. I`d still need to be making money, so I`d probably sell what I don`t need from my crops and animals. I was thinking I would do some Taxidermy as well, though I don`t think there is much business for that anymore, I`d still be making some money.

I know all this requires a lot of work and skill, though I am definitely up for that. I still have a long time ahead of me before I really have to make some definite answers, though I need to start planning now.
